Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Eyes around the NBA are fixed on Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal. The three-time all-star has a $36.4 million player option or he could decline it and enter free agency. It appears Beal has already made his decision about his future.

On Saturday, Beal was at Benjamin Banneker recreation center in Washington, D.C. for the unveiling of its refurbished basketball court. The 28-year old took time to speak with reporters after the festivities.

Beal revealed to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins, he has made a decision but will not yet share what it is because “it would be improper to discuss any potential future while he’s still fulfilling his current contract.”

Another option for Beal is to sign a five-year extension with the Wizards worth an estimated max of $250 million.

Beal’s been a hot name for trade rumors in recent years. He’s had multiple suitors at least according to reports. If he does opt for free agency, the Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers have been the most prominent linked to Beal.

Beal has been mum about what direction he will go. One other thing he was more telling about was that “a lot” of players from other teams have been trying to recruit him away from the Wizards. He didn’t provide any specific names.

Earlier this month, he told Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, his decision to stay put will be based on if he believes the Wizards can win in 2022-23 and beyond.

All players option decisions must be finalized by June 29. Coincidentally, the deadline comes a day after Beal’s 29th birthday.
