Brett Brown signs two-year extension with Philadelphia 76ers

Front office changes may have hit the Philadelphia 76ers, but coach Brett Brown isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported Friday that Brown has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep the coach in Philadelphia through the 2018-2019 hoops season. It is an interesting development since there was shuffling in the team's front office earlier in the week, but according to the report:

"Negotiations on the extension had started before the front-office shakeup that elevated chairman Jerry Colangelo over president and general manager Sam Hinkie on Monday."

Team management and ownership "were aligned" in extending Brown's tenure in Philly, Wojnarowski said. Despite having a 38-149 record — not to mention starting off this season 0-11 — Brown is well-liked both within the organization and by the players.

An official announcement of Brown's contract extension is expected in a presser before the Sixers host  the Detroit Pistons on Friday, Wojnarowski said.
