What does the future hold for Oklahoma City Thunder guard Chris Paul? Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

Bucks, Thunder have 'no traction so far' in Chris Paul trade talks

The Milwaukee Bucks have been linked to a possible trade for Chris Paul, but according to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the team has not engaged in any serious talks with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"There has been no traction so far—and maybe not even any talks—on any deal sending Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Bucks, multiple sources say," Lowe wrote.

The Bucks have faced back-to-back postseason disappointments, with the latest coming when the Miami Heat easily dispatched Milwaukee in five games. Their shortcomings have critics wondering if the team needs another star alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, who could leave after this season and is highly coveted by nearly every team in the league.

The two-time MVP has expressed his desire to stay with the Bucks, but if the team struggles in the playoffs again, he may end up wanting to join a team he feels he can win a title with. The 2020 free-agent class does not have many big names, but there are several quality players that may be available via trade, including Paul.

Paul remains one of the most talented point guards in the NBA and would be a huge value to any championship contender. The Thunder look like they are heading for a rebuild, so they may want to trade Paul to get picks or young players. But there are concerns about Paul's contract, age and injury history. The 35-year-old is set to be paid $85 million over the next two seasons. He has only played 70 games twice in the last five seasons.
