Bulls assign PG Coby White to G League affiliate

The Chicago Bulls might be getting back a key part of their rotation back soon.

According to the team's official Twitter account, the Bulls have assigned point guard Coby White to the organization's G League affiliate — the Windy City Bulls.

NBC Sports Chicago's Rob Schaefer reported on Sunday that the former seventh overall pick was likely nearing his return from shoulder surgery and faced live contact after the team's afternoon practice that day. Although White started 54 of the 69 games that he played in a season ago, he's expected to be one of the first options off the Bulls' bench when he returns, as the team picked up fellow point guard Lonzo Ball in the offseason.

After being taken by Chicago in the first round of the 2019 draft, White averaged 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 25.8 minutes per contest across 65 games and was named second team All-Rookie. In 69 games last season, White posted 15.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 31.2 minutes per contest, while improving in all three areas of his shooting with a 41.6/35.9/90.1 line.

His 90.1% free-throw shooting percentage ranked sixth in the NBA.
