The Houston Rockets are rapidly rising, having won even straight and showing plenty of fight.

The latter part of that sentence is especially true after Rockets forward Dillon Brooks (who else) got into it with Chicago Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan in Houston’s 127-117 home win on Thursday.

While Brooks has a reputation for being in the middle of (or generally starting) dustups, this time, he was merely coming to the aid of a teammate. This particular scuffle began after DeRozan delivered a hard foul to Rockets guard Jalen Green near the midcourt line.

Green immediately fell to the ground in pain as a result of the play, and that’s when Brooks stepped in. Both he and DeRozan were ejected.

Say this much for the Rockets (34-35), they sure aren’t going to end the season with a whimper. Recently written off as a better-luck-next-year squad, they’re now just 2.5 games behind the Golden State Warriors for the final play-in spot out West.

Green led the Rockets with 26 points and Brooks scored 23 on 10-of-13 shooting. DeRozan went just 4-of-15 shooting for 16 points for the Bulls (34-36), who sit in ninth place in the East.
