Bulls' Patrick Williams out four to six weeks; Coby White to return in November

Chicago Bulls fans were anticipating an injury update on one key young player. They received that and an unwanted surprise on Friday.

Bulls guard Coby White underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder back in June, and the club announced that White is on track to participate in non-contact portions of training camp and make a full return to action at some point in November.

However, the club added that forward Patrick Williams suffered a severe left ankle sprain during an optional individual workout on Sept. 15 and is now sidelined four to six weeks.

It was always expected White would miss the start of the season as he recovers from his operation. He's thus far appeared in 134 career regular-season games and averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds as a pro.

Williams, meanwhile, was drafted fourth overall by Chicago in 2020 and averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 71 games as a rookie.

According to Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago, however, Williams bumped his stats to 21 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game during Summer League play.
