Cavaliers' Darius Garland out one week; Dante Exum out six to eight weeks

The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the more surprising stories of the start of the 2020-21 NBA regular season when they began the campaign with three consecutive victories.

Cleveland has since dropped three of four games and also lost multiple players to injuries.

The Cavs confirmed on Wednesday that guard Darius Garland will be out for up to one week due to the right shoulder sprain he suffered ahead of Monday's loss to the Orlando Magic. Garland is second on the team with 17.2 points per game and could return sooner than feared depending on future evaluations.

Cleveland offered more pessimistic news regarding fellow guard Dante Exum, who went down to a right calf strain in the first quarter of Monday's contest. Exum is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

As Eric Woodyard noted for ESPN, forward and one-time NBA champion Kevin Love remains a spectator due to the right calf strain he re-aggravated in a win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 27. The original diagnosis had Love set to miss between three and four weeks.

Per Cleveland's official injury report, Matthew Dellavedova (concussion), Dylan Windler (hand fracture), and Kevin Porter Jr. (personal) will also be out for Wednesday's rematch with Orlando.

The Magic sit at 5-2.
