Cavaliers guard Ricky Rubio to have MRI on left knee

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ricky Rubio will have an MRI on his left knee on Wednesday, ESPN reported late Tuesday evening.

Rubio was injured at the end of the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 108-104 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, badly enough that he needed assistance leaving the court.

As Wojnarowski mentioned, the 31-year-old Spaniard has been a key contributor to Cleveland's bounce-back season. Rubio is averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game this season as the Cavs have inserted themselves back into the playoff conversation through the first 34 games. On Tuesday night before being injured, he lit up the scoreboard posting 27 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists in 37 minutes.

Losing Rubio, who tore the ACL in his left knee back in 2012, would no doubt leave a sizable hole in Cleveland's lineup.
