Point guard Ricky Rubio has yet to play, but indicated he is progressing well from ACL surgery in December of last season. He recently took part in 3-on-3 at practice.

As for how much longer his career will last, Rubio said probably not long. But what he does have left will likely come with the Cavaliers, he added.

“To be honest, I don’t have much left in the NBA,” he said on the El Reverso podcast, via Eurohoops. “When my son starts school, I want to settle in my house in Badalona (Spain). In two, three years, I would say I have left. I think I’ve found my place in Cleveland, I’m comfortable, and I want to reach the top with this project. I dream of living the experience of playing in the Finals.”

Rubio’s expected timeline to return is late January to early February. Several sources told Hoops Wire it could be sooner than that, though everything at this point is pretty much a guess.

  • Guard Donovan Mitchell‘s 43 points against the Lakers were a career-high as a member of the Cavaliers, and he seemed happy it happened in a win over his hero, LeBron James, in James’ lone visit of the season to Cleveland, no less. “You always want to spoil the homecoming,” Mitchell said, smiling.
  • James was indeed impressed with Mitchell, particularly with how Mitchell was able to take over to help the Cavs break away from a 92-all tie to win by 14. “He’s Mitchell,” James said. “He’s a special kid.”
  • Power forward Evan Mobley is aiming to take it to another level as his second season progresses. “People my size cannot move the way I move,” he said, via ESPN’s Jamal Collier. “I just try to perfect it as much as I can because I understand it’s a difference-maker, I understand the way I move, the physicality I bring to the game, it’s big.”
