The Cavaliers are seeking 3-and-D wings and there is no doubt that Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith fits such a description.

So will the Cavs make a run at Finney-Smith ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline?

Well, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the interest is there.

“Dorian Finney-Smith is somebody that I do believe that the Cavs have interest in,” Fedor said on a podcast from Cleveland.com. “He is somebody who can play the three and the four, he can shoot well enough from the outside spacing the floor.”

As we relayed previously, the Cavs are looking to add wing types and could pull the trigger on yet another in-season deal. Goodness knows, president of basketball operations Koby Altman is not afraid to do so.

This is something Marc Stein of The Stein Line mentioned in his latest newsletter, devoted solely to the Cavs.

“Support for the idea that the Cavaliers want to play this season out before contemplating major roster changes stems from what league sources describe as Cleveland’s desire to upgrade its wing options before next month’s trade buzzer,” Stein wrote. “Turner Sports’ Chris Haynes mentioned Cleveland’s interest in pursuing 3-and-D targets on a recent edition of our #thisleague UNCUT podcast and I’ve heard the same.”

Finney-Smith, 30, was acquired by the Nets from the Mavericks as part of the Kyrie Irving trade last season. He plays both forward positions and is averaging 9.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and is shooting 41 percent on 3-pointers in 34 games this season.
