CLEVELAND — It’s been a long week for Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman.

First, he was arrested for an OVI on Friday, the day before his 41st birthday. Then, body-cam footage of his arrest surfaced on social media … and even on TMZ.

And as we relayed here, Altman also had a first court date, in which his attorney entered a plea of not guilty.

Now, the Cavs have released a second statement on the incident. The first said they were gathering more information. The latest was an update.

“We hold our team members to a high standard of conduct and expect leaders at every level of our organization to represent the Cavaliers with integrity, professionalism and accountability,” the new statement read. “We will continue to closely monitor the facts and circumstances of this matter and await resolution of the legal process.”

What does this mean for Altman in his role with the Cavs? It’s hard to say right now. Odds are, as a first-time offender, you’d think he would be able to apologize, go through the legal process, learn from it and we all move on.

I’ll write more about this later, but as the Cavs have said, it’s important to wait out the legal process. For the team, it’s been a PR nightmare, especially after that body-cam video got out.

Media Day, by the way, is less than two weeks away. Hopefully, Altman and the Cavs can put talking about this big mistake behind them soon after that.
