Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown scores career-high 50 points, leads team to OT comeback over Magic

After an up and down first couple of months to the Boston Celtics' 2021-2022 season, it appeared as if their 2022 was going to start off in disappointing fashion. Despite trailing by double digits in the fourth quarter at home to the lowly Orlando Magic on Sunday night, sixth-year pro Jaylen Brown wouldn't let the team's new year get off to a bad start.

Brown propelled Boston to a come-from-behind 116-111 overtime victory over the Magic, erupting for a career-high 50 points in the process.

Brown is coming off of his first All-Star season in which he set career-highs in points (24.7), assists (3.4), steals (1.2) and minutes per game (34.5). He also had a career-best shooting line of .484/.397/.764.

In 22 games thus far this season entering Sunday, Brown had posted averages of 23.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Sunday was his 10th straight effort of scoring at least 19 points.

The Celtics are now 18-19 and in the ninth spot in the NBA's Eastern Conference. The Magic have lost five in a row and have the second-worst mark in the league at 7-30.
