Celtics' Jaylen Brown tests positive for COVID-19, quarantining

The Boston Celtics are set to be without All-Star Jaylen Brown for at least the remainder of the preseason.

Per CBS Sports' Jack Maloney and Conor Roche of Boston.com, the Celtics confirmed ahead of Saturday's exhibition game against the Toronto Raptors that Brown is quarantining after he tested positive for COVID-19. While the club added that Brown is asymptomatic, it's unknown if he's considered fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

"I have my own thoughts about it," Brown said about getting one of the safe and available vaccines last month. "I respect my teammates' decisions on things like that. Everyone has their own opinion on it. I think it's a personal choice."

According to Maloney, Brown will isolate away from the team for a minimum of 10 days. Boston's final preseason game is against the Miami Heat on Oct. 15, so logic suggests the 24-year-old won't play again until the start of the regular season.

The Celtics open the campaign at the New York Knicks on Oct. 20.

Brown returned from successful wrist surgery to lead the Celtics with 25 points in their first preseason matchup, a win over the Orlando Magic this past Monday. He averaged 24.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game in 58 regular-season contests in 2020-21.
