Recently, former Philadelphia 76ers two-way guard Louis King has worked out for a couple of teams. Last week, the Boston Celtics became the latest organization to get a look at the veteran.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Celtics planned for a meeting and workout with King last week. That came after King worked out for the Golden State Warriors this summer.
As a former undrafted prospect out of Oregon, King is still finding his way in the NBA. Although he didn’t get selected on draft night in 2019, King inked a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. His stint in Detroit lasted ten games, where he averaged six minutes on the floor.
During his sophomore effort, King joined the New York Knicks’ G League organization in Westchester. He played there for 15 games, averaging 14 points. Eventually, he landed another two-way contract, joining the Sacramento Kings during the 2020-2021 season.
In his first season in Sacramento, King appeared in six games, averaging 14 minutes on the floor. The following year, King saw the court for ten games, and put up five points per game in roughly ten minutes of action. A few months into the 2021-2022 season, King was waived by Sacramento.
From there, King bounced around the G League, picking up another stint with the Westchester Knicks and eventually joining the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Nearly two months after starting the 2022-2023 G League season with Rio Grande Valley, King joined the 76ers on a two-way deal.
As the Delaware Blue Coats went on a championship run in the G League in 2023, King was a key to their success. He started in 31 games, and averaged 30 minutes on the court. During that time, King put up 17 points per game, while knocking down 47 percent of his shots, averaging 39 percent from deep.
During his first G League playoff run, King averaged 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block. He knocked down 42 percent of his shots from the field during the three-game stretch.
Following the championship run, King had the opportunity to play for the Sixers during their final game of the regular season. With a near 30-minute shift, King scored 20 points while coming down with four rebounds and two assists.
The 24-year-old veteran’s next move is unknown at this time, but he’s received some notable attention recently. Perhaps, one of Philly’s former developmental prospects could soon become a member of a rival squad, as the Celtics have eyes for the G League champion.
