Charles Barkley on Nets' Kevin Durant: 'I call him Mr. Miserable'

Twelve-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant seemingly hasn't found a long-term home he loves since he left the Oklahoma City Thunder to sign with the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2016. 

While Durant earned a pair of NBA championship rings and two NBA Finals Most Valuable Player trophies with Golden State, he left that club to join the Brooklyn Nets in July 2019. Durant's marriage with fellow All-Star Kyrie Irving nearly ended when K.D. requested a trade out of Brooklyn in late June, but he and the Nets ultimately agreed to "move forward with our partnership" for the time being. 

Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is clearly unimpressed by Durant's history of antics. 

"He seems like a miserable person, man. I call him Mr. Miserable, he’s never going to be happy," Barkley recently said of Durant on the "Bickley & Marotta" program that airs on 98.7 FM Arizona's Sports Station, per Ted Holmlund of the New York Post. "Everybody’s given him everything on a silver platter. He was the man in Oklahoma City, they loved him, he owned the entire state. He bolts on them and wins back-to-back championships [with Golden State], and he’s still not happy. Then he goes to Brooklyn, they give him everything he wants and he’s still miserable." 

Durant and the Nets agreed to a four-year, $198 million extension in August 2021 that kicks in this coming season. Considering Barkley referred to Durant as "an abject failure" when tasked with being a leader and best overall player on a team, it's safe to assume the "Round Mound of Rebound" wouldn't have offered that deal to the 33-year-old.
