It looks like Miles Bridges' time with the Charlotte Hornets is coming to an end. Bridges enjoyed his best season in the NBA in 2021-22 as he averaged 20.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while also playing some good defense on the other end. He now wants a max contract as a reward for his performances and one of his friends also fired a warning to the Hornets that he'd be off to Detroit if they don't pay him what he wants.

By the looks of it, they aren't going to give him the max despite these warnings and a breakup is very much on the cards. Brian Windhorst on NBA Today on ESPN stated that the Hornets won't be matching Bridges' demands and that he will be testing free agency.

Let's take a look at Miles Bridges. He is not being offered from what I am told a max contract by the Charlotte Hornets right now. So he is going to go out into the marketplace, starting on Thursday Friday, and see if he can get that offer from somewhere else so we're gonna find out."

The Hornets need to start looking for some sign-and-trade deals as losing him for nothing would be disastrous. Someone with his skill set is quite sought-after in the NBA and a team like the Pistons can easily offer him the money he wants. Whatever they get in return is not going to be nearly as good as what Bridges can offer and this will be another setback for a franchise that has struggled to find the winning formula for so long.

They re-hired Steve Clifford who was the last coach to take them to the playoffs all the way back in 2016 and drafted Mark Williams who could finally be that great big man that the team has lacked, but all that good work might be undone should Bridges depart.
