On Thursday evening, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Emoni Bates with the 49th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

Following the Draft, teams sign players to fill out two-way contract slots and training camp roster spots.

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com , the Cavs are signing Pete Nance

Nance is the brother of Larry Nance Jr., who has played for the Cavs and is currently on the New Orleans Pelicans

In addition, he is the son of Larry Nance, one of the best players in the franchise's history.

Over seven seasons playing for the Cavs, Nance made two NBA All-Star Games, averaging 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 53.0% from the field.

As for Pete, he played five college basketball seasons for Northwestern and North Carolina.

This past year, he played 30 games for the Tar Heels and averaged 10.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 42.2% from the field.

The Cavs are coming off an impressive regular season where they made the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2018.

They finished the year as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record.

However, the Playoffs ended up being a significant disappointment because they lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in five games.

That said, they should still be seen as one of the elite teams in the east going into the 2024 season.
