The Los Angeles Clippers have added a notable veteran center to their developmental roster this week. According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, LA is adding the veteran center Dewayne Dedmon to its NBA G League squad.

Dedmon, who last played in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers, will get an opportunity to carve out a role for himself leading younger prospects.

The ten-year veteran big man has had his runs with several organizations across the league. In 2013-2014, Dedmon had stints on the Golden State Warriors, Orlando Magic, and the Sixers.

Since then, he’s had runs with the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and the Miami Heat. Last season, Dedmon appeared in 30 games with the Heat. Eventually, he was traded to the Spurs. Dedmon wouldn’t suit up for the Spurs. Instead, he was bought up before reaching a deal with the Sixers in free agency.

Dedmon served as an emergency backup center in Philadelphia. As the Sixers looked to utilize Paul Reed and Montrezl Harrell behind Joel Embiid, Dedmon was waiting in the wings for an opportunity that never really came. He spent eight games on the court for the Sixers, averaging under ten minutes.

Most of his playing time came during the final two games when the Sixers rested key players ahead of the playoffs. During the postseason, Dedmon appeared in just one game, picking up five minutes in a 34-point loss on the road against the Boston Celtics

It’s unclear if the former two-time Sixer plans to use the G League as a possible way back into the NBA or not, but the Ontario Clippers will benefit from Dedmon’s presence, considering he carries plenty of experience with him with 515 games under his belt, and 210 starts.
