Paul George and his Los Angeles Clippers were mired in a close game against the All-Star’s former Oklahoma City Thunder squad late Tuesday night when the unthinkable happened.

George went up for a defensive rebound with just over five minutes remaining. He landed awkwardly on his right leg and was seen on the court in Southern California in a ton of pain.

George ultimately had to be helped off the court and did not return to action as Los Angeles fell to Oklahoma City by a score of 101-100.

More than the game itself, attention turns to Paul George’s injury. It was back in 2015 that George dealt with one of the ugliest-looking injuries we’ve ever seen on a basketball court when he suffered a compound fracture of two bones in his lower right leg during a scrimmage with the U.S. Men’s National Team.

Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue noted after the game that they were still evaluating George’s injury. Reports from the scene inside Crypto.com Arena were one of “serious concern.”

An eight-time All-Star performer, Paul George is in the midst of yet another banner season. He entered Tuesday’s action averaging 23.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists while playing at an All-NBA level on defense.
