Clippers, Terance Mann agree to two-year, $22 million extension

Terance Mann is getting handsomely rewarded after a strong string of playoff performance in the Los Angeles Clippers' run to the 2021 Western Conference Finals.

ESPN's Marc Spears reported Tuesday afternoon that the third-year guard has agreed to a fully-guaranteed two-year, $22 million contract extension.

The Clippers selected Mann 48th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft and he averaged just 2.4 points, 1.3 assists, 1.3 rebounds and 8.8 minutes per contest across 41 games as a rookie. Mann upped those averages to 7.0 points, 1.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 18.9 minutes per game in 67 contests last season and posted a 50.9/41.8/83.0 shooting line, but the postseason is where he made his mark.

The 24-year-old played in all of the team's 19 playoff games in 2021, the final eight of which were without Kawhi Leonard. With the fourth-seeded Clippers and top-seeded Utah Jazz knotted 2-2 in their best-of-seven Western Conference Semifinals series, Mann started the final two games of the series in place of Leonard.

In Game 6, Mann went off for a career-high 39 points on 15-for-21 shooting (including 7-for-10 from distance), tying Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell for the game-high in points and helping the Clippers advance. In L.A.'s six-game Western Conference Finals series loss to the Phoenix Suns, Mann averaged 8.3 points and 3.2 rebounds across 27.8 minutes per game.
