Ja Morant is one of the biggest stories in the NBA this season. The Memphis Grizzlies young star has delighted everybody with his game, becoming the most exciting player to watch this campaign.

After recording a career-high 52 points against the San Antonio Spurs, everybody was in awe of the former No. 2 overall pick. The point guard has led the Grizzlies to the top 3 of the West, earning a lot of praise in the process.

However, not everybody is jumping on that train. Colin Cowherd of FS1 is cautious about the Morant hype, comparing him to other athletic guards that were specialists to finish plays at the rim. He named three whose careers weren't as successful as they thought, saying that Morant could follow that path.

“This Ja Morant stuff. I know he’s great. But I want to remind you…fans and the media have fallen for this…five times in the last twelve years. It’s called John Wall, it’s called Russell Westbrook, it’s called Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose was every bit Ja Morant. He literally took over social media, he took over cable TV”

“I am very skeptical about the long-term championship odds for springy, athletic guards that drive and score. The little guys that knock your socks off, and drive to the basket, are not great shooters do not last.”

Morant is already part of the elite of the NBA, and nobody knows what his ceiling is. The 1x All-Star has taken his game to the next level, becoming the clear favorite to win the Most Improved Player award, as well as earning MVP buzz with his performances this season.

He has shown his quality this campaign, and we hope that he continues this pace and actually improves it. Ja is one of the top talents in the league, one of the future faces of the competition.
