Could Michael Jordan be part of bid to buy Commanders?

Amid reports that he's in discussions to sell the Charlotte Hornets, Michael Jordan may be gearing up for his next venture in professional sports ownership.

According to Thom Loverro of The Washington Post , Jordan could be part of a bid to buy the Washington Commanders

In November, a source told Loverro that a New York investment firm was interested in purchasing the Commanders and that Jordan would be part of the bid. The source added that part of the plan involved Jordan selling his stake in the Hornets franchise, which appears to be coming to fruition.

On Thursday, a report from Pro Football Talk stated a potential sale of the Commanders was "imminent." If Jordan is involved, the timing of the Hornets' sale might not be coincidental.

The excitement could be short-lived for Commanders fans celebrating Dan Snyder's departure. Like Snyder, Jordan doesn't have the best track record running a professional franchise.

Over 13 seasons as the Hornets' majority owner, Charlotte has made the postseason only two times, in 2014 and 2016, losing in the opening round both years. Throughout that time, Jordan has also whiffed on multiple first-round picks. Despite hitting on Kemba Walker in the 2011 NBA Draft, under Jordan, the Hornets made the likes of Adam Morrison, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, D.J. Augustin and Noah Vonleh all top-ten picks.

Jordan isn't leaving the Hornets any better than he found them. At 22-49, the Hornets boast the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference and, by season's end, will have notched its 10th losing season since Jordan took control in 2010.

While the Hornets may still be in shambles, Jordan is likely in for a massive payday, which should delight Charlotte fans.
