Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard isn’t trying to control the narrative around him.

That doesn’t mean that Lillard doesn’t hear the noise around him. But the 33-year-old just isn’t going to let any of it faze him at this point in his career.

Damian Lillard Addresses Rumors Of Being ‘Unhappy’ In Milwaukee

Lillard on Friday spoke to reporters about whispers of his dissatisfaction with his new franchise. Lillard said that he himself “knows the truth” and that he has nothing but “love” for the situation he has in Milwaukee.

“I saw somebody say, ‘Dame’s not happy in Milwaukee.’ I know the truth. I love the situation that I’m in. I also know what I have going on outside of basketball that kinda drains me at times.”

“People are going to make comments. People are going to say things. And if it doesn’t go the way that they say it’s going to go … they’re never held accountable for what they say publicly.”

Lillard has dealt with issues off the court over the past year. Lillard’s move to the Bucks coincided with him filing for divorce from his wife Kay’La with whom he has three children.

With personal matters looming large over Lillard’s life, the less-than-stellar situation with the Bucks this season probably doesn’t seem as bad to the All-Star guard as people assume.

Damian Lillard Will Have To Put The Milwaukee Bucks On His Back

The Bucks will need to lean heavily on Lillard to open the postseason given the injury to his co-star Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks were 4-4 this season in games which Lillard played but Antetokounmpo did not.

But Lillard has had over a decade of experience as the lead star on a playoff team during his time with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 8-time All-Star needs to keep the Bucks’ head above water up until their 2-time MVP gets back to full strength.
