Dejounte Murray ties David Robinson for most triple-doubles in Spurs history

Dejounte Murray has taken as big a leap as anybody this season, and he now finds himself in historic company as a result.

Murray picked up his 14th career triple-double Wednesday night, tying him with Hall of Famer David Robinson for the most in Spurs franchise history. It wasn't enough to power San Antonio to victory, though, as the Spurs lost 118-110 to Memphis.

Murray played the most out of anyone by logging 39 minutes. He finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds (four offensive) and 11 assists. He also logged two steals and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.

The fifth-year guard has seen his numbers climb in almost every category this season, with his scoring numbers jumping nearly four points to 19.3 per game. He's also improved his rebounding numbers to the tune of 8.4 per game, but the most dramatic improvement has come with his passing. Until this season, Murray had slowly increased his assist numbers with each year, but this season he's gone from 5.4 to nine dimes per game.

He has turned out to be one of the foundational pieces of the Spurs' organization since they selected him with the 29th overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Washington. Murray's nine assists per game currently rank fourth in the league, and his 10 triple-doubles rank second and trail only reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.
