Jamal Murray has bold goals with the Denver Nuggets, and it goes beyond winning just championships. Sure enough, that’s bad news for the rest of the NBA.

Speaking in a recent interview, Murray shared his desire to be the best player in the NBA, though he’ll be fine going second best behind Nikola Jokic.

Jamal Murray Has Huge Ambitions With Denver Nuggets

Murray has yet to make the All-Star team or even win an individual accolade, but he has certainly established himself as a legitimate superstar in the NBA.

Sure enough, Murray couldn’t care less about his lack of awards. He knows very well that what fans think of him don’t matter that much, as he is aware his peers in the NBA respect and fear him.

Murray is also not lacking confidence in himself, going as far as to saying that he’s one of the top current players in the league today.

“Of course,” Murray said when asked if he believes he’s one of the best players today despite not being an All-Star, via FOX Sports. He then shared his goal, highlighting: “And I strive to be the greatest. I want to be the best player ever. Obviously, if you don’t shoot high, then you’re never going to get there. I think Jokic is the greatest player right now. And I try to be a close second.”

Nuggets fans will certainly love that message from Murray. While it’s definitely hard to surpass Jokic and the other superstars in the NBA, the fact that he’s not resting amid all the success he has just only shows his incredible mindset.

Murray is also only 27 years old, so he still has plenty of opportunities to climb up the NBA’s elite rankings. And sure enough, the Nuggets wouldn’t mind to have the two best players in the NBA today.

Jamal Murray’s NBA Career With Denver Nuggets

While Jamal Murray has yet to establish himself as a Top 5 player in the NBA and earn the recognition he deserves, he has definitely produced at a superstar level.

Murray has career averages of 17.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, along with 45/38/87 shooting splits. Those are already All-Star worthy numbers. This 2023-24 season, he’s putting up 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.6 assists, as he remains a crucial part of the Nuggets success.
