During Wednesday’s NBA action, the Chicago Bulls and the Indiana Pacers delivered an unforgettable performance, culminating in a 132-129 overtime victory for the Bulls. DeMar DeRozan scored 46 points and nine rebounds, including a pivotal 3-pointer in overtime.

“It’s like a survival mode that kicks in, in a fun way,” DeRozan said. “You embrace those moments. For me, I just thrive off those moments. I’m not scared to fail. I’m not scared to try to make something happen. I want those moments more than anything. It always reminds me of my childhood, being a kid and doing the little fake countdown, jumping on the bed, shooting the shot.”

The tension was palpable in the final moments of regulation, with Myles Turner of the Pacers hitting crucial 3-pointers, only for DeRozan to counter with a game-tying fadeaway jumper, sending the game into overtime.

“DeMar is an incredible closer,” Bulls coach Billy Donovan said. “Give him a lot of credit and respect for that.”

The close contest saw the Bulls making a decisive play in the dying seconds of regulation, with DeRozan creatively breaking off the planned play to find an opening and keep the Bulls’ hopes alive.

“Our defense just wasn’t good enough,” Turner said. “DeRozan hit some big shots, special player. But as a whole, I don’t think we were there, just that last part. This time of year, there’s no excuses. You’ve got to find a way to get it done.”

Both teams demonstrated exceptional play, with the Bulls’ Alex Caruso and Ayo Dosunmu contributing significantly, while the Pacers’ Turner and Haliburton had standout performances, despite the disappointing finish for Indiana.

“What a game,” Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. “So many ups and downs. We were one rebound away.”

The game was a rollercoaster of emotions and momentum swings, highlighted by the Bulls’ third-quarter surge to seize control and the Pacers’ bench making significant contributions throughout the night.

The Bulls look forward to hosting the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, while the Pacers will face the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.
