Double Vision: Heat’s Bam Adebayo elevates his game
This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.
The bet: A double-double for Heat center Bam Adebayo (+205 DraftKings)
After the loss to the Knicks in Game 2, Adebayo blamed himself and insisted that he needed to play better. He then backed up his words with a double-double in Saturday’s victory, scoring 17 points and securing 12 rebounds.
Adebayo had failed to reach double figures in the latter category over the two previous contests. But he showed a renewed commitment on the glass as the setting switched to Miami, putting himself in position for 20 boards. He’s now averaging a healthy 16.7 rebound chances for the series, and he has scored at least 15 points in each game.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was effusive in his praise of Adebayo’s Game 3 performance, characterizing the big man as “dominant.” With star Jimmy Butler having returned from an ankle injury, the team has a chance to put a stranglehold on the series by winning tonight, and Adebayo should continue to exert his will in the paint.
