Double Vision: Heat’s Bam Adebayo needs to rebound

This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.

The bet: A double-double for Heat center Bam Adebayo (+150 Barstool)

Presented with an opportunity to sweep the Celtics and move on to face the Nuggets in the NBA Finals, the Heat faltered on Tuesday night and Adebayo came up particularly short. He scored a postseason-low 10 points, secured just five rebounds, and sat for half of the third quarter after committing his fourth foul.

But as the setting shifts back to Boston for Game 5, Adebayo gets a chance to rebound – literally and figuratively. He was a force in his last appearance at TD Garden, ending up just one assist shy of a triple-double. He poured in 22 points, including making all eight of his free-throw attempts, and matched his season high with 17 boards.

During last year’s Eastern Conference Finals, Adebayo recorded three double-doubles and finished with nine rebounds in two other games. To help prevent his team from squandering all momentum in the rematch, he’ll need to be very active on the glass tonight.
