Double Vision: Rockets’ Alperen Sengun provides boost
This space aims to identify players who represent good value for recording a double-double in a particular game. If they post double-digit totals in any two of the five main categories (points, rebounds, assists, blocks, steals), backers will at least double their money – and sometimes make much more than that.
The bet: A double-double for Rockets center Alperen Sengun (+150 Barstool)
After making just 13 starts as a rookie, Sengun has quintupled that number for games played in his second year, starting all but three of them. The 20-year-old Turkish big man is averaging 14.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest, and he has already recorded 23 double-doubles and a pair of triple-doubles this season.
Despite owning the worst record in the Western Conference, Houston has been playing competitive basketball of late. The Rockets had won three straight games before falling to the Pelicans yesterday, and their opponent tonight is a scuffling Warriors squad that has lost three in a row. Sengun also stands to benefit from the absence of Golden State center Kevon Looney, who is considered questionable with lower-back soreness.
Sengun gets 15.7 rebound chances per game, which ranks in the top 20 leaguewide. Against a team that may be forced to play Draymond Green at center, he should have plenty of opportunities to pull down boards and bring this bet home.
