For former Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade, his induction and inclusion into the pantheon of all-time basketball greats remains unbelievable, a surreal feeling that hasn't quite settled in yet. After all, the 6-foot-4 guard came into the NBA by way of Marquette with a lot of question marks regarding his game; whether it was his lackluster three-point shooting or shaky handles. In the end, though, Wade leveraged all his skills and produced a Hall of Fame career that saw him win three NBA titles with the Miami Heat and 13 All-Star appearances. He is also a one time Finals MVP, All-Star Game MVP, and was the league's scoring leader in 2009.
"We in the Hall of Fame"
Born in Chicago, Wade had dreams of making it into the NBA. He made it when the Miami Heat selected him fifth overall in the famed 2003 NBA Draft. He hit the ground running, leading the Heat to the NBA Playoffs in his rookie season and never looked back. When all was said and done, Wade stood at the podium and dedicated his induction into the Hall of Fame to his father, saying, "We in the Hall of Fame, dawg."
Still surreal
Despite the accomplishment finally culminating in a grand ceremony last weekend, Wade still finds being a Hall of Famer surreal even though he was already included in the NBA 75th Anniversary Team back in 2021.
"I'll have to take a little time away once I leave this weekend and really sit out on the beach somewhere and just look around and be like, 'What? Me? Huh?'" Wade said. "I'm still that kid that don't even understand why I'm here."
