Eddy Curry is one of the many solid players, and high draft picks of the early 2000s that is often forgotten by NBA fans today. Curry had a solid 11-year career in the league after being picked No. 4 overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2001 NBA draft. The 7-foot center played majorly for the Bulls and the Knicks, dropping off significantly following the 2007-08 season, playing just 26 more games in the league before he played his last one in 2012 for the Dallas Mavericks.
While the overview of his career may not seem very impressive, considering he averaged 12.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for his career, in his early years, Curry was a solid piece. He signed a $60 million contract for 6 years with the Knicks in 2005 and, as a part of that, was getting paid quite handsomely for his era.
However, after his best season in 2006-07, when Curry averaged nearly 20 points and over 7 rebounds per game, he regressed greatly. And his contract had implications on the Knicks being able to acquire other pieces as they continued to try and get properly competitive again. So Eddy has a unique perspective on Knicks fans, being loved and hated in a short amount of time, something he spoke about in an interview with DJ Vlad.

"Knicks fans, they don't play that sh*t, bro. That's a serious town. They'll love you hard, but they'll hate you just as hard, bro. It's crazy.
"I get that. I understand it. Like, they still show me love when I go to New York, like, I still get a whole lotta love in New York. So I understand what it's like, to have your favorite team and just wanting them to win. Like, 'Hey if you helping us win man, I'm your No. 1 fan, but if you not man, get the hell out the way'. So I get it, man, I get it. I'm not mad at all."
Knicks fans are an extremely passionate bunch that have been starved of a properly competitive team for a long time. They are currently in the middle of another quick rebuild, with Jalen Brunson seemingly the man they have identified as a key piece they will acquire in free agency. The fans will be hoping that he can have a bigger impact than Curry, or he might just receive the same type of treatment.
