ESPN to continue Sunday '30 for 30' airings after 'The Last Dance'

As Matt Clapp of Awful Announcing wrote, the first six episodes of the ESPN docuseries "The Last Dance" about Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls were the most-watched documentary programs ever aired by the network.

The Worldwide Leader is looking to build on that momentum with American sports leagues on hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.

ESPN announced on Tuesday that additional "30 for 30" documentaries will air on Sundays after the final episode of "The Last Dance" debuts on May 17.

"Lance," a two-part series about disgraced American cyclist Lance Armstrong, will air on May 24 and May 31.

"Be Water," a film about Bruce Lee, will debut on June 7.

"Long Gone Summer," which looks back at the memorable home-run record chase between sluggers Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa during the 1998 Major League Baseball season, airs on June 14.

Each of those broadcasts will begin at 9 pm ET. Tuesday's announcement hints that ESPN expects to air no live sports action on Sunday nights through at least the middle of June due to the virus outbreak.
