Stockton Kings center Chance Comanche was arrested Friday on an open murder charge involving the death of a 23-year-old woman.

Comanche and his 19-year-old girlfriend Sakari Harnden were apprehended by authorities last week as suspects in the disappearance of Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state.

Following the confirmed death of Rodgers, the charges against Comanche and Harnden were amended from first-degree kidnapping to open murder.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Sunday released a statement on the arrests. The police noted that evidence of foul play was obtained early in the investigation that pointed to Comanche and Harnden as the primary suspects.

Comanche was arrested without a warrant by FBI agents around noon Friday in Sacramento County, Calif. He is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail, according to jail records. Harnden was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas for kidnapping charges and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Rodgers was initially reported missing on Dec. 7 following a prearranged meeting with Harnden on Dec. 5. Human remains were eventually found in a desert area in Henderson, Nev. The remains were later identified by the Clark County Coroner to be those of Rodgers.

Comanche’s Stockton Kings played against the G League Ignite in Henderson on Dec. 5. He has since been released.

Comanche, a 6-foot-10 center out of Arizona, played in just one NBA game with the Portland Trail Blazers last season.
