Even months later, Los Angeles Lakers fans remain annoyed with Memphis Grizzlies small forward Dillon Brooks, who professed himself to be a LeBron James stopper, only to see James obliterate Memphis whenever Brooks was his primary defender. The second-seeded Grizzlies would go on to fall to the seventh-seeded Lakers in six games, after which Memphis was quick to distance itself from Brooks, an impending unrestricted free agent this summer.

Former NBA journeyman point guard Tony Delk spoke with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson and Sandeep Chandok of Bally Sports about one of LA's least-favorite opponents during the team's spring run to the Western Conference Finals.

"[The equivalent to Dillon Brooks in Delk's era] might have been my friend Bruce Brown," Delk offered. "When you're Dillon Brooks and you're talking all that [trash], the thing I will say is, don't run from the media after the game's over with. If you're winning, you see guys run to the podium, but you've got to be the player that, [when you're] talking that trash, and you get your butt whooped, after the game, don't walk out on the media."

"We want to hear what you've got to say because the first thing you said was, you want that smoke," Delk continued.

After winning an NCAA title with the Kentucky Wildcats in 1996, Delk was selected with the 16th pick by the Charlotte Hornets. He went on to suit up for the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, and Detroit Pistons from '96-2006, before finishing up his career internationally.
