Fan who taunted Carmelo Anthony banned from 76ers games, arena

A fan who was ejected from Thursday night's Lakers-76ers game in Philadelphia for verbally harassing Carmelo Anthony is now facing further consequences.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported Friday night via a 76ers spokesperson that the fan, who was confronted by Anthony in the fourth quarter of Philadelphia's eventual 105-87 win, has been banned from future 76ers games and all future events at Wells Fargo Center.

It's unclear exactly when the incident began, but with just over seven minutes left in the game, Anthony walked toward the sideline while play was stopped to confront the unruly fan seated close to the court. After a brief exchange between the two and another fan, the pair of fans were ejected from the game.

Anthony continued to be upset as the fans left the arena, being held back by 76ers star Joel Embiid.

After the game, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported the fan called Anthony "boy," saying "get in the corner, boy" and "keeping shooting, boy." After the game, Anthony spoke on the incident in his press conference. Haynes also added that the second fan involved in the incident is suspended for the remainder of the season.

"Some things were said — unacceptable… I know how the fans are here, but there are just certain things you don’t bring to any sporting event," Anthony said, per 6abc's Jeff Skversky.

Anthony finished the game with nine points and three rebounds in 26 minutes. He entered Friday averaging 13.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game on the season, his first with the Lakers.
