Jeff Teague’s time with the Milwaukee Bucks was short, as it came at the tail end of his 12-year career. After starting the season with the Boston Celtics, he ended the season with the Bucks and eventually won a title with them. He recently hopped on a podcast and spoke of the time he wanted to fight the “Point God” himself, Chris Paul.

Began with pleasantries

Teague spent the 2016-2017 season with the Pacers, and they were facing off against the Los Angeles Clippers, which still had Paul at that time. Being products of Wake Forest, the two linked up before the game during the shootaround.

“So before the game, you gotta do warmups, and I see him. He like, ‘JT, what’s up baby!’ All political,” Teague shared. “He had some Wake Forest shoes, so I’m like, ‘them is decent right there. I might need a pair of them CPs right there.’ Just trying to keep the conversation going.”

Little did Teague know that that nugget he shared towards the end of their convo would come back to haunt him.

Trademark CP3

Chris Paul has established himself as one of the league’s all-time point guards. His reputation, though, amongst his peers is another story. The story that Teague shared is completely in line with that.

“The game start, we start playing against each other, and he doing a lot of flopping. He was trying to give me two fouls, and I’m like, ‘quit flopping, play! You scared to guard?’” Teague said.

“This guy walked to the end of our bench, where Paul George was sitting, and was like, ‘P, this dude right here talking smack like he ain’t just ask me for some shoes before the game!’ You know what I was on. Rest of the game, you already know I was on Ricky Rubio timing. I wanted to run into this dude so bad.”
