Former Runnin’ Utes star, Delon Wright, hit a significant career milestone in his ninth season in the NBA.

Wright, in his second season playing for the Washington Wizards managed two steals in the team's loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The steals put his career total at 600.

A 6-foot-5 shooting guard, Wright has played for quite a few NBA teams during his nine seasons in the league.

Praised by many for his defensive ability, the former Runnin’ Ute began his career with the Toronto Raptors in 2015 when the team selected him with the 20th pick in the NBA Draft. At the time of this event, Wright became the first Ute to be drafted by an NBA team since Andrew Bogut went No. 1 in 2005 to the Milwaukee Bucks.

In two seasons with the Runnin’ Utes, the Lawndale, California native was far and away the team's most versatile player.

Wright became the first player in Runnin’ Utes history to earn back-to-back All-Pac-12 First team honors and achieved Pac-12 All-Defensive team in both seasons.

During the 2014-2015 season with the Runnin’ Utes, Wright played alongside his current Wizards teammate Kyle Kuzma. With a roster that included a trio of NBA talent including Jakob Poeltl, the Runnin’ Utes managed a 25-9-1 record on the season and made it to the Sweet-16 round of the NCAA Tournament.

While Wright’s role as a starter has diminished in the latter years of his NBA career, he still operates as one of the leagues better defensive players.

Thursday, Feb. 8th, marks the trade deadline for the 2023-2024 NBA season and it remains unclear whether Wright will stay in Washington or be shipped elsewhere. Many expect the Wizards to clear house during a rebuilding season where the team has largely struggled.
