Milwaukee Bucks guard Marjon Beauchamp (0) Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier this week, the Milwaukee Bucks i ntroduced Adrian Griffin as the franchise’s 17th head coach. Present at his introductory media session were several players, including Jevon Carter, Myers Leonard, and MarJon Beauchamp. As one might have expected, these players were asked questions by the media as well. During their questioning, Beauchamp revealed some special plans for the summer: Giannis Antetokounmpo invited him to come to Greece to workout together. Beauchamp left for Greece following the media session.

Why Did Giannis Antetokounmpo Invite Milwaukee Bucks Teammate MarJon Beauchamp to Greece?

Lori Nickel of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was the first to report on Giannis’ invitation to Beauchamp. In her report, she quoted Beauchamp as saying that he is very excited and does not know exactly what to expect. She also reminds fans of something Giannis said about Beauchamp during the season:

“I really believe in him. I believe in what he’s about today and I believe in what he’s going to be about in four, five, seven, 10 years from now,” Antetokounmpo said after Beauchamp scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Nov. 14. “I think he has a skill set that’s unique. He plays with a lot of energy; he plays with chip on his shoulder … he’s not a big talker.”

Sounds a great deal like Giannis himself after his first year in the NBA. In any case, Giannis investing time in the young Beauchamp is also a great investment in the team itself. With so many players headed for free agency, and given the Bucks’ salary cap situaion, Beauchamp is sure to get more playing time. Spending the summer, or at least part of it, working out with one of the best players in the world can’t be a bad thing at all.
