Giannis Antetokounmpo leads Bucks to Game 1 win with triple-double vs. Celtics
No team allowed fewer points during the 2021-22 NBA season than the Boston Celtics did, but the team couldn't do much to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo who carried the Milwaukee Bucks to a 101-89 win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Antetokounmpo finished with 24 points, 12 assists and 13 rebounds to record only the fourth playoff triple-double in Bucks history and take the all-time franchise lead in the category.
Milwaukee is currently without second leading scorer Khris Middleton, who is expected to miss the entire series against Boston due to an MCL sprain. The Bucks instead got 25 points out of point guard Jrue Holiday and 15 points from Bobby Portis.
Boston never led in the second half and trailed by as many as 17. The Celtics took a staggering 50 three-point attempts in the loss and made 18. Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring with 21 points, and Jaylen Brown scored 12 while tying career-high with seven turnovers.
Game 2 in Boston is set for Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
