Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry won’t be playing until early next week as he recovers from his recent ankle injury.

The good news it doesn’t look like Curry will be missing a lot of games beyond the upcoming week, which is definitely a crucial development for a Warriors team hoping to make the playoffs. Entering Saturday’s showdown with the San Antonio Spurs, the Dubs were 10th in the West with a 33-29 record.

Stephen Curry Out for Golden State Warriors Until Tuesday

According to the latest reports, Curry will be re-evaluated on Tuesday, which means he’ll also be missing Monday’s showdown with the Spurs. Curry had already been ruled out for Saturday’s contest, though head coach Steve Kerr was initially unsure how long the sharpshooter would be sidelined.

With the latest update, there’s a possibility that Curry returns by Wednesday when they take on the Dallas Mavericks, or on Saturday when the Warriors face off against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Of course it will still depend on Curry’s recovery and pain tolerance, but his recent MRI came back clean, suggesting a non-serious injury. Not to mention that a quick re-evaluation is often a positive sign.

“The Warriors say Steph Curry will be re-evaluated for his ankle injury on Tuesday. So that rules him out of both Spurs games — tonight in SF and Monday in San Antonio. The Warriors play Wednesday in Dallas and next Saturday in LA vs Lakers,” Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported.

Curry is the most important player on the Warriors’ roster. In the 59 games he has played so far this 2023-24 season, the GOAT shooter is averaging 26.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists, all while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from deep.

The Warriors will have to dig deep on their roster to fill the massive hole that Curry leaves. Fortunately, it shouldn’t be long until Curry returns.

Golden State Warriors’ Plan Amid Stephen Curry Injury

In Stephen Curry’s absence, the Golden State Warriors will have Chris Paul starting in his place. Head coach Steve Kerr said as much before Saturday’s showdown with the San Antonio Spurs.

Kerr also shared their plan to utilized CP3 to the best of his abilities by running plays that he’s familiar with. Paul is a great player on the pick-and-roll, so Golden State fans should probably expect the Dubs to have a lineup with some big men like Kevon Looney and Trayce Jackson-Davis alongside the Point God.

“We’ll lean on certain actions that Chris likes to run,” Kerr said of their plan for Paul as he returns to the starting unit, per Slater.

Hopes are high that the Warriors can hold on while Curry rests. They really can’t afford to lose more games, especially with less than 20 games left on the season.
