Grant Williams was on a podcast talking about Luka Doncic, and he agreed with the host that the Mavericks star has n*gro tendencies. He then said he's the young star he would build a franchise around.

Luka Doncic has taken himself right to the top of the MVP conversation with his recent performances. The Slovenian phenom has consistently shown that he is on the path to greatness during his first 4 years in the league and he has taken another massive step in Year 5. Doncic's prowess is something that everyone can appreciate, from fans and journalists, to even his rivals on the court.

After Luka Doncic's incredible 60-point triple-double against the New York Knicks, the league sat up and took notice, with various stars taking to social media to praise him. The likes of Kevin Durant, DeMar DeRozan, and Trae Young all had effusive praise for Luka's achievements. And considering the age at which he is doing all this, even his fellow players in the NBA know he'd be the man to build a franchise around today.

Grant Williams Of The Boston Celtics Would Choose Luka Doncic Over Any Young Star Except His Celtics Teammates

Grant Williams has become an important part of the Boston Celtics, and already has the experience of going to the NBA Finals next to a young superstar in Jayson Tatum. So he knows what he's talking about when he said on a podcast that he would pick Luka Doncic as the player to build a franchise around over anyone else except Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

(starts at 00:08 minutes)

"I'm picking Luka for sure. If I'm thinking about any draft class after 2018... Including my own, I'd maybe choose Zion, but Luka because of the way he sees the game, he's been doing this for so long. Like, he's a guy, when you playing against him, Luka's never gonna cook me. But last year when we played them this year, I played probably the best defense. And this man was hitting, he threw up the ball 4 times and it went in... I'm looking at him like, 'There's absolutely no way,' and he's smiling, running down the court."

Luka Doncic has cooked a lot of players in the league. And he does it with a smile on his face too, something that led to further comments from the podcast host and Williams.

Podcast host: "Ay Luka has a lot of n*gro tendencies."

Grant Willians: "For sure. He seems like he been in the States for the longest time... I'm not gonna lie to you, he got the card maybe. No to-go plate, he standing at the cookout, man he's fun. He's a fun dude to play against and be around for sure."

That's quite the take from Williams, but it goes to show just how much respect Luka Doncic already has from his peers around the league. The MVP race this season looks like it will come down to the wire, but if Doncic can carry the Dallas Mavericks to a top seed in the Western Conference, he will surely win his first MVP in the process.
