The San Antonio Spurs couldn't grab another win against the Golden State Warriors when the two teams met on Monday night inside the Frost Bank Center.

While the Spurs built a lead in the first half, the Warriors chipped away at their deficit. A 30-6 run in the third quarter sunk the Spurs and pushed them into a hole that they couldn't dig themselves out of.

“When you lose, oftentimes you do a few things poorly. If you win, you do more things well and you have a chance to win," coach Gregg Popovich said postgame. "If they had a 30-6 run, we probably did some pretty bad things during that period. You can just guess, write down whatever you want. It’s a simple game. You turn it over, you miss shots, they make shots. Your defense sags, maybe you don’t rebound. It’s all of the above. It’s no secret."

Simply put, the Spurs lost the game during that run that lasted from the 10:09 mark until there was less than a minute remaining in the quarter.

The Spurs have often pieced together strong quarters or stretches during their losses, but playing consistent for 48 minutes have been a challenge for the team.

Basketball is a game of runs, but it's about ensuring that the lows never get too low.

The Spurs will have a chance to shake off the loss against the Warriors tonight when the Houston Rockets come to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
