Team USA has been a disappointment in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, but I’d be lying if I wasn’t smiling a little bit after Trae Young was snubbed. However, another Hawks player is showing out in the international tournament — Bogdan Bogdanovic.

The Serbian sniper has led his team to the finals after a convincing 95-86 win over Canada. In the contest, Bogi connected on 62% of his field goals and 45% from deep, leading to 23 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals.

The Hawks’ sharpshooter has looked impressive thus far, averaging just a tick shy of 20 points on an ultra-efficient 51.7% field goal shooting and 40.4% from three-point land. He’s also added 4.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per context.

The Hawks locked Bogdan Bogdanovic up on a four-year, $64 million deal in the middle of last season, which was a bit surprising considering he’s missed at least 19 games in each of the last four seasons.

When he’s on the floor, nobody is questioning his effectiveness. Bogi was instrumental in Atlanta’s magical Eastern Conference Finals run, and he’s set to have a prominent role in Quin Snyder’s offense, which heavily features three-pointers. The vision is clear, but the health might be a hurdle to get over.
