The Atlanta Hawks have discussed trades surrounding standout guard Dejounte Murray , but they are no longer discussing it with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Per NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT, the sides have ended trade talks on Murray ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

The potential deal may have been sidetracked by a 15 percent trade kicker in Murray’s contract that he was unlikely to waive, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Murray is averaging 21.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.3 steals, shooting 47 percent from the field and 37 percent on 3-pointers. He is making $17.7 million this season after signing a four-year, $114 million extension.

Murray has also been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, among others, but whether or not he’s traded will rarely be based on what else happens on deadline day. Reports suggest that Atlanta coach Quin Snyder wants the team to retain Murray beyond the deadline.

Muray carries NBA career averages of 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.3 blocks with the Hawks and San Antonio Spurs. He won the 2021-22 steals title. He is set to make $24.8 million next season after the extension kicks in.
