Hawks promote Landry Fields to GM

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Atlanta Hawks have promoted assistant general manager Landry Fields to general manager.

Fields' promotion will reportedly take effect on July 1; he'll continue working under Atlanta's President of Basketball Operations, Travis Schlenk.

A former second-round pick of the New York Knicks out of Stanford, Fields was named to the NBA All-Rookie team in 2011. His career was cut short due to injury, and he retired from the NBA after the 2014-15 season. Fields played five seasons in the NBA for the Knicks and Toronto Raptors, averaging 6.8 PPG, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 255 career games.

After retiring as a player, Fields transitioned to a college scouting role with the San Antonio Spurs. In 2019 Fields was promoted to general manager of the Spurs' G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs.

Fields joined the Hawks as assistant general manager ahead of the 2020-21 season.
