Kevin Durant became the most sought-after name in the NBA earlier this month when he requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets.

As arguably the best player in the league today, and with four years left on his deal, Durant is the sort of prize that rarely comes along.

Although multiple teams have expressed interest in the 33-year-old, due to salary cap and personnel restrictions (plus one particularly annoying rule), realistically the options to acquire him are quite limited.

This week, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski revealed the team which is currently “most determined” to land Durant.

“The Miami Heat certainly have been one of the most determined teams to try to acquire Kevin Durant since he asked for that trade,” Wojnarowski said.

“They’ve talked to Brooklyn here in Las Vegas, and ultimately, for Miami and Brooklyn specifically to do a deal, they’re gonna need a third team, perhaps even a fourth team.”

It will be interesting to see how this situation ultimately shakes out. There are reports that Brooklyn is legitimately surprised by the underwhelming bids that have been presented for Durant up to this point.

And understandably so.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ best proposal for Durant is a matter of public record. Same for the Boston Celtics’ best offer. Same for the Toronto Raptors’ bid. And the Portland Trail Blazers’ proposal as well.

By all accounts, Durant has two significant issues with the Nets. It’s hard to see that situation being rectified.

A trade feels inevitable.

But where will Durant actually end up when it’s all said and done?

Time will tell.
