Hornets guard James Bouknight is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic left knee surgery after suffering a meniscus injury, the team announced.

Bouknight, 23, suffered the injury on Oct. 5 at practice and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

“It stinks for him and for us, and it’s just part of the NBA,” coach Steve Clifford said, via Roderick Boone of the Charlotte Observer. “It’s like now the only thing that he can do is just concentrate on doing a good job with his rehab and getting back as soon as he can.”

The No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Bouknight has been a minimal contributor in his first two seasons, averaging 5.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 34 appearances last season. He has averaged less than 13 minutes a game for his career.
