Charlotte Hornets guard James Bouknight Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

Hornets' nightmare offseason continues with Bouknight DWI charge

When the Charlotte Hornets drafted James Bouknight out of UConn with the No. 11 pick in last year's draft, driving to the basket was considered one of his greatest strengths. Since then, it's been driving anywhere else that's the problem.

It was Bouknight's fourth citation since joining the Hornets - the first three were for reckless driving - and his second in seven days. He was cited for driving under the influence after he was found passed out in a parking lot.

A Charlotte-Mecklenberg police officer "found Bouknight unconscious in a parking deck on E. Brooklyn Village Ave., across from Brevard Street. The police report says that Bouknight had a handgun in his possession when he was arrested."

It's only the last in a series of tough incidents for the Hornets this offseason. They hired the Warriors' Kenny Atkinson as their new head coach, only for Atkinson to change his mind days later and stay with Golden State. Emerging star Miles Bridges was arrested for felony domestic violence the day before free agency. Montrezl Harrell was charged with felony marijuana possession in Kentucky, later reduced to a misdemeanor, before he left for the 76ers. The team's lone All-Star, LaMelo Ball, severely sprained his ankle and will miss the beginning of the season.

If that all weren't unsettling enough, forward Gordon Hayward, a 32-year-old father of four, went out and got this hair cut:

Charlotte desperately needs to turn around their bad vibes before the season begins. And even more desperately, they need Bouknight to start using Uber.
