Former Houston Rockets head coach Rudy Tomjanovich and several members of the 1993-94 championship squad were in Houston for last weekend’s gala fundraiser for the team’s Clutch City Foundation.

During the event, Tomjanovich was asked by local reporters about what he thinks about the current state of his former team, and he made it clear that he is happy with the progress he has seen with the young squad under the guidance of Ime Udoka.

“I’m in love with this team. I’m excited about basketball, again. I watch it all the time. It’s a great combination of youth, and I just love the veterans they added,” said Tomjanovich via Vanessa Richardson from Space City Home Network.

“Great role models for the young guys, and they can all play. The team is tough, and they’ve got a coach to match that, too. Intelligent, fiery. I couldn’t be more excited for our team,” he added.

Most, if not all, Houston Rockets fans feel the same way as Tomjanovich because they are the hottest team in the NBA.

The Houston Rockets are closing in on the play-in tournament

After securing a 110-92 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, the Houston Rockets have improved to 36-35 this season, extending their winning streak to nine games.

With Alperen Sengun sidelined, Jalen Green has taken it upon himself to lead Houston, surpassing the 25-point mark in his last five games while averaging 29.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game during their unbeaten run.

Because Houston is closing in on the 10th spot in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors and their fans are growing desperate to hold on to the final play-in slot, and it doesn’t help them that they’re on a two-game losing streak.

However, Draymond Green said that he doesn’t “give a damn” about the Houston Rockets in a recent interview.

The Houston Rockets are set to face the Oklahoma City Thunder next in a game that will give them a perfect gauge of where they stand in the Western Conference landscape.
