Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet couldn’t imagine what Alperen Sengun is feeling right now after the big man suffered a scary injury during Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. The only thing FVV knows is that it doesn’t look good for his teammate.

However, VanVleet is not losing out hope that Sengun’s injury is not serious.

Alperen Sengun Suffers Nasty Injury During Houston Rockets vs. Sacramento Kings

Sengun had to be wheeled off the game against the Kings after he had a scary fall with 39 seconds left on the clock. The Turkish big man was attempting to block Domantas Sabonis, but his awkward fall caused his knee to buckle up and stretch backwards.

The 21-year-old also appeared to hurt his ankle as well after his legs got twisted while crashing down to the hardcourt.

There were no updates on Sengun’s condition after the game, with head coach Ime Udoka only saying that he doesn’t want to speculate and that they would wait for the test results. The Rockets rising star had an X-ray in the wake of the injury and is scheduled to have an MRI on his right knee and ankle on Monday.

There are fears that Sengun’s injury could be season-ending, though Rockets fans are certainly praying for the best.

Fred VanVleet Speaks on Alperen Sengun’s Houston Rockets Injury

While talking to the media following the Houston Rockets’ 112-104 win over the Sacramento Kings, Fred VanVleet addressed Alperen Sengun’s injury and shared his pain for his young teammate.

VanVleet admitted that the fall and the eventual injury definitely looked “scary,” but he shared his hope that the issue is not as serious as it seemed.

“It sucks. Injuries are part of the game. We all understand that when we signed up. It is always tough to see your teammates go down, especially the young ones who haven’t really been through it before when (stuff) hurts,” VanVleet said, per Jonathan Feigen of Houston Chronicle.

“That’s a tough, scary-looking injury, scary-looking fall. Hopefully, all the images come back clean. That’s all you can pray for at this point. We’ll be there to support big fella. We’re praying for him, for sure.”

More details about the severity of Sengun’s injury should come out after his MRI on Monday. A timeline for his return should also be available by then.

Like what VanVleet said, however, the ideal scenario is that there is no damage in Sengun’s knee and ankle, and that he would only need some time to rest and recover.
